If I purchased my property “As is” at an auction such as a tax or real estate foreclosure, am I responsible for the past due account?
Yes. It is your responsibility to conduct due diligence prior to closing. Past due accounts are attached to the property as a lien against the property. When you become the new property owner, you are taking on that lien. You may wish to consider this in your negotiations.
